Paintings

These paintings stemmed from my intense and
utter obsession with color - bright, arresting,
emotional color! I also explored freedom vs.
control in my actual painting method.

This body of work is from the last semester of
my senior year of college. Trying to discover the
product I liked, I worked with acrylic paint, ink,
gessosed and un-gessoed canvas, as well as scraps
of found and recycled papers.

I was inspired by many color field and abstract
expression painters...such as:
Morris Louis, Sam Francis, Yves Klein, Clifford Still,
Paul Jenkins, & Helen Frankenthaler to name a few.

I did lots, and lots, of studies. I find beauty in each.
A blessing and a curse!

Sometimes I just like to pour paint down the
drain...especially when I'm cleaning up my (now ex)
studio. How pretty is that?!
